Peebles Activities

Peebles offers many activities and attractions, most are within easy travelling distance making both  5A Old Town and Hillview  ideal  for your self catering holiday in Peebles.

Walking

This could be an easy stroll along the banks of the River Tweed or following one of the many rights of way that dissect and join Peeblesshire to rather more strenuous challenges such as Dollar Law or the John Buchan Way.

The surrounding forests also offer opportunities to experience the flora and fauna of the Scottish Borders woodlands in a more sheltered environment. Whatever you choose the views will be spectacular!

Cycling

Peebles offers access to one of the most famous mountain biking areas in the world that includes Glentress Mountain Bike Centre.

Glentress is probably the best biking centre in Britain, with brilliant trails of all grades, a top-notch café, a bike shop with bike hire, changing and showering facilities, and a great atmosphere. The apartment is about 2 miles from Glentress.

Innerleithen is situated just a few miles south east of Glentress, is quite different from its better-known sister -away from
the hustle and bustle, it's a venue for the more experienced rider. 

There are also many cycle ways throughout the area that take you to beautiful unspoilt countryside.

Golf

Golf fans have a good choice of greens , Peebles Golf Club, Cardrona, West Linton Golf Club, and Innerleithen all offer visitor passes but you may wish to investigate the Freedom of The Fairways. Discount green fees are available for visitors.

Chocolate and Pastry School.

Picnics

Peebles is a picnic place. Whether you take to the hills or have a gentle stroll beside the river. Many visitors take a short journey out of the town to  the surrounding valleys e.g Manor Valley is a good place to enjoy  all that this area has to offer - children guddling in the burn, abundance of wildlife and an ideal spot for a perfect picnic!

Fishing

The River Tweed also offers other pursuits such as fishing and on a fine day paddling. Both our Peebles self catering properties are minutes away from the River Tweed. Fishing Permits can be arranged or packages for both town and crown salmon fishing can be purchased at The Gytes Leisure Centre.

History

The Border Towns with their abbeys and castles attract many visitors each year and of course with Edinburgh nearby  you may wish to visit our capital city to enjoy the Edinburgh Festival, Fringe, Tattoo and Castle.

Theatre

Eastgate Theatre offers a varied programme throughout the year. Their website has a full programme and booking online.

Shopping

Peebles shopping is recognised as the best independent offering in Scotland, this along with the many coffee shops and eating houses in and around the town will tempt you to leave the apartment and do some of the tasting yourselves.

Health & Wellbeing

You may wish to spoil yourself and have a pamper day at either Stobo Castle Spa or Peebles Hotel Hydro, these need to be booked in advance, contact details available on request.

Swimming Pool

Peebles Leisure Centre features an excellent 25 x 8.5 metre swimming pool with glass walls allowing visitors to enjoy panoramic views of the River Tweed. Other facilities include a toddler pool, sauna, steam room, vending café and a soft play area.

Edinburgh

Peebles is near Edinburgh, just over 20 miles. This makes Peebles a convenient location to visit Edinburgh, where there are many attractions and activities throughout the year.
